Contest Rules
Eligibility
- Open to businesses located in Charlotte, NC, and surrounding areas.
- The business must have a physical storefront with an existing sign.
- Only business owners or authorized representatives may enter.
Submission Guidelines

- Only one entry per business is allowed.

- Compelling story explaining why the business should win
Prize Details
- One winner will receive $1,000 in credit toward a new business sign from Charlotte Sign Studio.
- The credit must be used toward a sign purchase within 60 days of winning.
- The prize cannot be exchanged for cash or transferred.
Additional Terms & Conditions
By entering the Charlotte Sign Makeover Contest (“Contest”), participants agree to the following Terms & Conditions. Participation in the Contest constitutes full and unconditional acceptance of these terms. Charlotte Sign Studio (“Organizer”) reserves the right to modify, suspend, or cancel the Contest at any time without prior notice.
1. Eligibility
The Contest is open to legal business entities with a physical storefront located in Charlotte, NC, or surrounding areas. Participants must be at least 18 years of age and authorized representatives of the business. Online-only businesses, temporary vendors, and businesses without a physical storefront are not eligible. Employees, affiliates, and immediate family members of the Organizer, its partners, and judges are not eligible to participate.
2. Entry & Submission Requirements
Each participant may submit one (1) entry, which must include:
- A clear and unaltered photo of the business’s current sign.
- Accurate contact information, including business name, owner or representative’s full name, phone number, and email address.
- A short written explanation of why the business should be selected.
By submitting an entry, participants grant Organizer a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use submitted photos, business names, and contest stories for marketing, promotional, and advertising purposes, including but not limited to social media, email marketing, and the Organizer’s website.
The Organizer reserves the right to disqualify any participant who submits false, misleading, offensive, or incomplete information. Entries that contain copyrighted or inappropriate material will be rejected.
3. Prize & Redemption Terms
One (1) winner will be selected by a panel of three independent judges chosen by the Organizer. The judging criteria include but are not limited to:
- Sign condition & need for improvement
- Creativity & potential for transformation
- Quality and authenticity of the participant’s written submission
The winning business will receive a $1,000 credit towards the purchase of a new business sign from Charlotte Sign Studio. The credit is non-transferable, non-exchangeable, and cannot be redeemed for cash. The prize must be redeemed within 60 days of the winner’s announcement or will be forfeited.
The Organizer is not responsible for additional costs exceeding the $1,000 credit, including installation, permitting, taxes, or any other expenses associated with the new sign. The winner is responsible for ensuring compliance with local zoning laws and obtaining any required permits before sign installation.
4. Selection Process & Winner Notification
The winner will be chosen by the judges and notified via email and/or phone within five (5) business days of the selection. If the winner does not respond within seven (7) business days, an alternate winner may be selected at the Organizer’s discretion.
Decisions of the judges are final and binding. The Organizer reserves the right to withhold the prize if an eligible winner cannot be confirmed or if fraud or misconduct is suspected.
5. Liability & Indemnification
By participating in the Contest, entrants waive any and all claims against Charlotte Sign Studio, its employees, affiliates, judges, and partners for any injury, loss, or damage related to participation in the Contest or acceptance and use of the prize.
The Organizer assumes no responsibility for:
- Technical errors, internet malfunctions, or lost submissions.
- Contest modifications or cancellations due to unforeseen circumstances.
- Business owners’ failure to comply with local laws, permits, or regulations regarding signage.
Participants agree to indemnify and hold harmless Charlotte Sign Studio from any claims, liabilities, or damages arising from participation in the Contest, sign installation, or prize use.
6. Privacy Policy
The information collected during the Contest will be used for contest administration, winner notification, and promotional purposes. Participants’ personal data will not be sold or shared with third parties outside of the Organizer’s business operations.
7. Right to Cancel or Modify Contest
The Organizer reserves the right to cancel, suspend, or modify the Contest at any time if fraud, technical issues, or unforeseen circumstances compromise its integrity.
